Quick answer
Type your text and it instantly appears in 26 Unicode styles such as 𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐝, 𝒮𝒸𝓇𝒾𝓅𝓉, Ⓒⓘⓡⓒⓛⓔⓓ or S̶t̶r̶u̶c̶k̶; click a row to copy it. Below are gamer name frames like ꧁༺ Name ༻꧂ and a library of symbols such as ♡ ★ ツ 亗. They are real Unicode characters, not a font, so they keep their look when pasted into Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or a game.
What is fancy text, really?
Want a game name with unusual characters, bold words in an Instagram bio or a struck-through old price in a post? You do not need to install a font: you need the right Unicode characters. This page gathers the popular styles, decorative name frames and more than 200 special symbols in groups. Everything runs in your browser, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.

How to make fancy text and symbols
- 1
Type a name or sentence in the box; the list of styles updates as you type.
- 2
Click the row with the style you like to copy it, then paste it where you need it (Ctrl+V, or long-press and Paste on a phone).
- 3
For a decorated gamer name, pick the text style for the frame, then click a frame such as ꧁༺ … ༻꧂ or ★彡 … 彡★.
- 4
Need a single symbol (heart, star, arrow, currency)? Find it in the symbol library and click to copy.
- 5
If accented letters look misplaced where you paste them, untick “Keep accents”.
Popular styles
| Style | Example | Character source |
|---|---|---|
| Bold | 𝐍𝐚𝐦𝐞 | Mathematical Bold (U+1D400) |
| Italic | 𝑁𝑎𝑚𝑒 | Mathematical Italic (U+1D434) |
| Script | 𝒩𝒶𝓂ℯ | Mathematical Script (U+1D49C) |
| Fraktur | 𝔑𝔞𝔪𝔢 | Mathematical Fraktur (U+1D504) |
| Double-struck | ℕ𝕒𝕞𝕖 | Double-Struck (U+1D538) |
| Circled | Ⓝⓐⓜⓔ | Enclosed Alphanumerics (U+24B6) |
| Small caps | ɴᴀᴍᴇ | IPA and Phonetic Extensions |
| Strikethrough | N̶a̶m̶e̶ | Combining mark U+0336 |
A few letters of the Mathematical block live in Letterlike Symbols instead (ℎ, ℬ, ℭ, ℕ, ℝ…); the tool fills those gaps for you.
Where it works
| Place | Fancy text | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Posts and comments on Facebook, X, Threads | Yes | Screen readers read each character, so keep it short |
| Instagram and TikTok bios | Yes | Old phones may show empty boxes |
| Real name on Facebook | Usually blocked | Facebook only accepts regular letters |
| Game character names | Depends on the game | Some games limit length or character sets |
| File names, passwords, email addresses | Avoid | Easy to break and hard to type again |
Examples
Gamer name
Type “Shadow”, choose “Bold script” for the frame and click ꧁༺ … ༻꧂ to get ꧁༺ 𝓢𝓱𝓪𝓭𝓸𝔀 ༻꧂.
Instagram bio
Type “Photographer · London” in “Sans-serif bold”: 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿 · 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻 stands out without an image.
Old and new price
Type “$49” and pick “Strikethrough”: $̶4̶9̶, placed next to the sale price in a post.
Common problems
- Pasted text shows boxes or question marks.
- The viewer's device lacks a font with those characters (common on older phones). Pick a widely supported style such as Bold, Italic or Circled.
- Accents sit in the wrong place.
- Accents are added as combining marks rather than pre-composed letters, and some apps render them poorly. Untick “Keep accents”.
- Facebook rejects your name.
- Personal profile names only accept regular letters. Use fancy text in posts and comments instead.
- Your post does not show up in search.
- 𝐍𝐚𝐦𝐞 is a different character from “Name”, so search engines do not match it. Do not use fancy text for important keywords.
Why it keeps its style everywhere
A font is only a way of drawing letters, and it is usually lost when you paste text elsewhere. Fancy text is different: each letter is a separate Unicode character. The bold 𝐀, for example, is character U+1D400, not a regular A drawn in bold, so it travels with the text to anywhere that supports Unicode.
These characters were created for mathematical and phonetic notation, so some letters are missing (there is no superscript “q”) and some blocks only have capitals (black circled, squared).
Letters with accents
Unicode has no bold or script versions of accented letters such as “é” or Vietnamese “ệ”. The tool splits each letter into its base letter and accents (NFD), styles the base letter and places the combining accents after it. Most phones and computers display this well, though the accent position can shift with the font.
Letters that cannot be split, such as “đ”, are kept as they are. “Upside down” always drops accents because they cannot be flipped.
Use it sparingly
Screen readers announce each mathematical character (for example “mathematical bold capital N”), so a long sentence of fancy text is very hard to listen to. Keep it for names, short headings and highlights.
Glossary
- Unicode
- The shared character set that gives every letter, symbol and emoji in every script its own number.
- Combining mark
- A character drawn on top of the previous one, such as the acute accent U+0301 or the strike U+0336.
- NFD / NFC
- Two Unicode normal forms: NFD splits accented letters into base + marks, NFC joins them back into one character.
- Kaomoji
- Faces built from characters, originally from Japan, for example (◕‿◕).
Frequently asked questions
Can special characters break my game account?
No, they are just characters. A game may refuse names with unusual characters or limit their length, and it will tell you when it does.
Why does my friend see boxes?
Their device has no font with that character. Bold, Italic and Circled work almost everywhere; Fraktur, double-struck and black squared are more likely to be missing.
Is fancy text good for SEO?
No. Search engines treat 𝐍𝐚𝐦𝐞 as different characters from “Name”, so it will not rank for that keyword.
Is my text stored anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser; the page does not send what you type to the server.
How do I type special characters on a phone?
Tap a character here to copy it, then long-press the text field and choose Paste. It is faster than searching the keyboard.
Can I make coloured text?
No. Unicode only defines the shape of characters; colour is up to the app, apart from emoji that come with their own colours.
